These past few days have become more exhausting for me as David has more energy and needs less sleep, but I, however, am the opposite as I move further along in the pregnancy. The stretch from 3pm to 5pm is the most tiring for me as I try to keep David occupied and also prepare some sort of dinner for my hard-working husband to come home to.
Shaun had a brilliant suggestion not too long ago...David needs to start "room time." I don't know why I hadn't tried sooner, especially since many of our friends have successfully incoorporated "room time" into their kids' schedules. We started out by placing the baby gate in front of his door, then let him have control of his room for about an hour. He LOVED it!
He is now confident when he gets his "room time," and even waves and says "bye bye" when I come peek around the corner to make sure he hasn't found trouble. He is definitely able to play independantly and remain content! He starts by emptying his laundry basket, then one drawer of his dresser, then his shoe basket, then his package of swim diapers, then dumping his legos, and then sits down to read his newest farm book. I don't mind the mess, especially since he loves putting everything away and receiving applause for following instructions.
Thank you "room time," you are a life-saver!
