Three

Sweet little James is turning three this week. *Sigh* How can he be this old already? He isn't so little anymore...in fact he is growing more and more each week!

This year has been a delight! It's been a joy to see James' personality develop and come alive. He's such a talker now, and is very observant even when he is quiet. I love hearing his toddler logic, especially his prayers at dinner time. He usually prays, "God, amen for this food. And the Wego's (Lego's) too." And he always reminds us to pray, sometimes he even interrupts dinner and asks us to pray again!
He has a content spirit, and is tender towards babies and animals. He loves playing with David and wrestling with Daddy. The boys always ask to play "Too Rough" with Daddy. That's what they call it because when it's not with Daddy, we say it's too rough to play that way :)

James doesn't mind getting dirty. Recently I heard a splashing sound from the hall bathroom, then heard James proudly announce that he was "washing the sink." I walked in and found him scooping water out of the toilet and pouring it all over the sink and counter. He was using the cup that he uses to rinse his mouth when he brushes his teeth, nonetheless. And to him, this was perfectly normal :)

James absolutely loves Lego's. He will focus on them for up to an hour (which is the longest he will play with one toy)! He has fallen asleep a few times on a pile of Lego's on the floor. He refuses to nap these days, and will hold out as long as he can :)

Other things James loves include: Star Wars (particularly Darth Vader and Chewbacca), all things superhero, James the train from Thomas and Friends, and "mighty machines" (construction equipment).

Some other sweet phrases from James include:

"pet it?" (he was pointing to a dead roach on the floor when he asked that)

"I spy something. I spy something...Buddy Bucks!"

"Turn here, Mommy" (while at intersection)

"we go Taco Banana (Cabana)?"

"Wego's not being nice (said as a pile of Lego's crashed in his room)"

"I go Daddy's Rackspace?"

"soupcase (suitcase)"

"Don't touch my traffic (in reference to a line of cars he made down the hall)"

One evening we'd already put James to bed for the night, but even from behind his closed door down the hall I heard him say "bwess you, mommy" after I sneezed.

James walked around with a Hulk mask on and sweetly said "Hulk smash Thor."

At night I usually sing a song with each boy before bedtime. James ALWAYS requests "Eight Days A Week" by the Beatles. Makes me smile each time.

This next year, James will be in preschool two days a week! I look forward to watching him grow more and learn new things. Not sure when we will attempt potty training, but he has shown signs of interest in the potty!! Not just playing with the potty water, but actually using it for its intended purpose!!

Happy birthday to our sweet James. We love us some James!
