Mother's Day Weekend

This weekend was very special! Not only because it was Mother's Day, but also because this was the first weekend in a while that Shaun did not have to work at some point.

Friday evening my Mom babysat David while Shaun took me out to Bin555 for dinner. Bin555 is a Spanish-Italian tapas style wine bar. We had never been there before, but had heard cool things about this place. The food was yummy, and the atmosphere was inviting and relaxing.

Then Saturday we took my Mom out for lunch at Sea Island. Sea Island has always been a favorite in our family, and also reminds us of my grandparents who loved eating there, too.

Saturday afternoon Shaun watched David so I could go get a massage. And boy did I sure need one!! It felt SOOOO good to be pampered :-) Shaun also spoiled me with a divine box of Godiva chocolate...mmmmm such an indulgence!!

Shaun also got a set of two devotional style books (one written for men, and the other for women) called For Men Only, and also For Women Only. Each chapter goes through common misunderstandings and assumptions that spouses make, and how to communicate through those differences. I think the books are very insightful so far!

Sunday morning we went to a Mother's Day brunch in the Journey class at Wayside. We had not been there in a while, so it was nice to see familiar faces and celebrate Mother's Day together!

Shaun told me that Sunday afternoon was open for whatever I wanted to do. Believe it or not, I wanted to go grocery shopping together. Now this doesn't sound too exciting, but let me explain...I usually get groceries early in the week with David while Shaun is at work. It makes for a long day especially when I go to HEB, Sun Harvest, and Costco while trying to keep David pacified. So it was VERY nice to have Shaun go with me and help quicken the shopping/unloading of groceries. That was a gift in itself :-)

I felt so blessed this Mother's Day and am so thankful for the wonderful baby that God has entrusted us with. I am also blessed to have a loving husband who is committed to providing for and protecting his family.

You are blessed. And it is funny how our mindsets and expectations change once we are mommies. Just not having to change a poopie diaper or wipe a poopie bottom is a huge gift in itself! :) Happy M-day! ~liz
