Mommy Dearest

I can only recall a few times in my life where I have had to use quick thinking skills to "escape." This morning, David and I had the pleasure of finding ourselves locked in the hallway bathroom of our house. We have the lever handled doors, and they often "stick"...meaning the outer lever is down and the inner one is up until we wiggle the handle. This has never really caused a major problem...until today.

After realizing that we were locked inside the bathroom without a cell phone or any tools for me to work on the door handle, I searched the bathroom to see what resources would help me break through the door. The hanging mirror- NO. The bath towels- NO. The sea creature bath toys- NO. The bottle of baby shampoo- NO. Hmmm...what else was there that didn't require a tool to disassemble?? When all else fails, there is always the trusty old ceramic lid on the back of the toilet. It definitely had some force...and luckily I did not drop it on the floor and break it as I rammed it repeatedly on the door!

Fortunately the door is hollow, which meant that I could break one side and wiggle the handle without breaking completely through the door!

David got to witness the entire ordeal, and to my surprise did not cry. He did look at me with a bewildered expression and would probably compare me to the character who plays Joan Crawford in "Mommy Dearest" had he known the reference. If you haven't seen the movie...she is rather crazy about her house...and well everything.

Enough entertainment for one day.

What is it with moms I know having to bust out of their bathrooms with their toilet tank cover? You and Amy could start a club!
