Mr. James is One Month

I woke up this morning finding it hard to believe that Mr. James is already one month old! It seems like he was just born yesterday, but then again it feels like he has always been here as a part of our family.

James is eating and sleeping very well! The longest stretch of time that he has slept at night is 7 hours. But don't get too excited yet...it was only a one time occurance last week! He's eating SO much and burning it off quickly. I sense a huge growth spurt is around the corner, then maybe he will have enough chub on his little body to let him sleep through the night :) Although I am exhausted during the middle-of-the-night feedings, I DO enjoy the peace and quiet while getting to hold little James. Shaun has been a wonderful help...he takes one of the nightly feedings and still wakes up at 4 am each day!

David has been super sweet and gentle with his little brother. He still hugs and kisses him, and has recently started to rock the infant carseat when James starts to cry. He will try to give James the pacifier, too...not always in the mouth...sometimes in the eye or nose. I find it endearing that David tries to comfort his little brother!

Life has definitely been an adjustment. I have had to learn new ways to do alot of the daily tasks of keeping the house going. I have come to the conclusion that life is a series of transitions and that they will always be changing. Some transitions are short, some long...but it is important to enjoy where we are at during each of them instead of hoping for the next stage to be here. So many people say your kids will grow up quickly, and I wholeheartedly agree because it seems like David was just a newborn! Even on the long and/or tiring days I want to be able to tell myself that "These ARE the good old days."

Happy one month to our sweet little James. What a blessing you have been!

Glad to hear things are going so well. It really does make a world of difference when Dad takes a night feeding doesn't it? Glad to hear David is being so sweet and helpful too, what a great big brother.
