Before & After

A little paint can go a LONG way! This lovely little nightstand was my grandma's, and now it serves as James's nightstand/toy cabinet. Most of the furniture in our house is brown, and with the hardwood floors and leather couches, you can see all sorts of shades of brown in every room. I decided it was time to spice it up a little :) I love the Pottery Barn look, but my debt-free/what-would-Dave-Ramsey-say conscience says "you can do it much cheaper!!"

So with a few cans of spray paint, some liquid de-glosser, fine steel wool, and new fixtures, I revitalized this nightstand for under $20. You gotta love a little sweat equity...

Then I used the extra red paint to paint a little brown basket in our kitchen that holds our vitamins. It really adds some character to our kitchen counter :) Now I want to do our chandelier, the built in wooden wine rack, and the list goes on. But it is a tedious task with a lot of waiting between coats. And I should never attempt to do it unless Shaun is watching the boys. I learned that spray paint drifts, and kids don't listen when you say don't touch the wet paint!!!
