Great is Thy Faithfulness

Friday afternoon as we were at my grandmother's house, everything in her house caught my eye. Some things I had never noticed, but now they were more meaningful. On her kitchen table she had a bookmark that said "Great is Thy Faithfulness" and a windchime that said "Rejoice in the Lord Always." My grandmother always had a word of praise on her mouth, even in the sad times. The verse "Great is Thy Faithfulness" stuck in my mind and I read it when I got home.

Lamentations 3:22-23 Because of the Lord's mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness."

As I have been reflecting on it I am focusing on the phrase "we are not consumed." It seems that my thoughts have been consuming me as I have tried to sleep since we miscarried. I can work a 40 hour week and not miss a beat, but at night I am haunted and consumed by all the pain. Why does this happen? I know God's mercy is available to me, but why do these things still come to mind at the end of the day? I have seen how God refreshes me each day. I can look back and see how I have had strength only through Him. He has been faithful to carry me through it all, although I do not see it while it is happening.

This verse was one of my favorites when I was in your shoes. You will continue to be in our prayers. The Lord is faithful and good to those whose hope is in Him!

This verse comforted me through many hard times. I loved that you focused on the word consume. It gave me a new way to look at this verse.

We love you...
